New season, new challenge?

As spring is in the air and the clocks are about to go forward, that means a new season is upon us and we’re underway again. Training continues Tuesdays and Thursdays at Imberhorne Upper School. We look forward to welcoming you all down at the track soon – for those new to the club, please complete the enquiry form first and we will organise an invitation for you to come along and try out what we have to offer first.

If you’re looking for a new challenge, we’re on the lookout for people interested in helping out with a view to joining our coaching crew. We’re looking for people who are keen to help us offer opportunities for more people to enjoy the sport and there’s definitely no need for any prior experience as a coach OR athletics. Why? Because it’s actually about helping to bring out the best in people, supporting them in their goals and sharing their successes. Don’t worry, you won’t be left to work out your discus from your shot, your long jump from your high jump – we’re there to help, guide and support you and there are many opportunities to gain further experience through the short training courses we provide.

So the time commitment; we know many are worried and question how much time this will take. In the end, this is actually your choice – our training sessions are generally one hour long, twice per week. We run a poll each month asking when people are available and this means you can choose when you’re free to come along and help. If you’d like to have a quick chat, please speak to any of our coaches or send an email to secretary@eastgrinsteadac.co.uk and we can have chat about what you’re interested in doing.
